2016 CULINARY SKILL BUILDING, ONE COURSE AT A TIME
This is a two day commitment, a total of 12 hours of cooking instruction and practice, with our chefs and kitchen staff to upgrade your culinary prowess. You start where you are, at your skill level, and we take you where you want to go.
The format is new. Student will have the opportunity to tell us what dishes they want to make and what techniques they need to practice. Working with the chefs, each student creates three courses: an appetizer, entrée, dessert. Then students choose ingredients from our ample pantry. As in all our culinary skill building courses, students share and describe their courses to the other students and their guests.
Students choose their recipes from our website or their own sources. Our pantry includes the items to match student choices. We will have animal proteins (seafood, meats, cheeses, eggs, cream), vegetables, fruits, vegetable proteins (such as tofu, tempeh) and grains, beans and the many spices, condiments, dairy products, baking supplies in our pantry.
Tuition is $375.00, inclusive of both days of instruction, your ingredients, and wine paired with your finished meal. As always, a returning student receives a discount of $25 if enrollment is confirmed at least one month in advance of the date. We provide a simple breakfast, coffee each day and lunch the first day; and, of course, the meals they prepare, is our lunch the second day.
Chefs help students focus on the criteria that will make them successful. They will offer critique of student dishes, one on one, to evaluate the flavors, cooking techniques, and presentations, with the ultimate goal of meeting students’ objectives. This is not a competition, but rather a safe place to get feedback and improve skills by learning from each other, student to student, chef to student, student to chef. Class size is limited to 8 students.
Any of our shows or class experiences can be designed just for your private party. (*) Imagine having a room of your friends watching and dining during the Dinner Show or with aprons on and hands into the dough during a private PASTA 101 semi-hands-on class. (*)Private groups of ten or less may join the regular scheduled classes and are expected to pay the regular price per person, gratuity optional. Groups of 11 or more constitute a private event, and our pricing for those experiences depends upon the date, number in the party, type of experience, and of course, the menu. A service fee is always applied.
