We are heading into our 7th summer! Hooray! Ready for the sun, the crowds, summer sounds of the swinging screen door, afternoons on the deck with a glass of wine, and daylight that lasts through dinner!
CULINARY FUNDAMENTALS Class
We had our second annual spring class for basics. We had six students and after four days of cooking together you might say we are soul-food buddies. Wait a minute; we didn’t cook soul food, just cooked with soul! Yea that’s it.

In response to our guests who have suggested it we are going practically paperless at our dinner classes. Everyone will get the evening’s menu and wine list, our two support info pages, and a blank note card. Our recipes are now on line in our free cookbook. Each month we link the menu to our cookbook so you can easily find the recipes for the meal you experienced. We still have a few hard copies on hand for those who might not yet have a computer (but then they won’t be reading this), as well as for those of you who must have the recipe to follow during class; you know who you are.

Designed to celebrate the farmers market season with an impromptu family style meal inspired while shopping the market. Two main dishes and lots of sides including vegetables, grains, artisan cheeses and butters and a great dessert, of course! Tuition is $69 inclusive of one glass local house wine. Market volunteers eat free if they help us serve! Farm vendors sometimes join us for dinner, too. All reservations must be pre-paid so don’t hesitate to call when your plans are firm – 503-436-8555.
EVOO is restaurant of the week at the market on August 17 this summer! Basil infused Lemonade (really fresh squeezed) and Bob’s BBQ pork sliders, slaw, and local blackberry ketchup! No lunch at EVOO that day.
INFORMAL DAYTIME DINING, a la EVOO
Soups-on, everyday during the summer—Smoked salmon chowder, Chili with the works, and soup du Jour, broth based soup; always comes with Bob’s daily bread.
As you might imagine, our EVOO associates eat pretty well everyday. Many customers asked if they can have what we we’re having when they drop by. So many, that we finally said, “why not?” So now every WEEKDAY we offer our Fresh Family Meal (staff meal) to the public. Fresh Family Meal is served at ONE O’CLOCK to reserved guests. The menu is planned daily, with a vegetarian alternative, most days. We love having the public & locals in because it makes the cooks (and Lenore & Bob) really try harder when it is their turn to cook. And it is fun to watch the competition between them. Reserve a seat for this price friendly lunch (never over $15) and it comes with coffee! No carry out, please. Sit and relax—life is too short for carry out!

No FREE LUNCH? Relax! Encore Club members eat free! Yes that is correct. We reserve two seats per weekday for our Encore members to enjoy our FAMILY MEALS with us, on us! Call ahead and get on our calendar for this exclusive offer. The down side—it is only good for one lunch per month this summer (hey, that is 3 all summer; and that’s no downside!)

Yes, Bob, we do have a FACEBOOK page! Slowly we are grasping the social media opportunity. Why just this past month Lenore heard from a lost friend since high school. That is pretty neat.

LOOKING AHEAD you are first to know!
This NOVEMBER we have been invited to go with Oregon Bounty, a division of TRAVEL OREGON, to Munich Germany to promote what makes Oregon so tasty! This big event begins on November 4 with a Gala Dinner at the Hotel Sofitel Bayerpost, and culminates on Nov 7 after several more demonstration dinners. Bob and Lenore will work directly with the German chefs in planning the menus and procuring the ingredients before leaving the state, and then again some hands-on preparation in Germany.

What an opportunity! —One we just cannot refuse. We do regret that we will miss the Stormy Weather festivities in CB this November, but we hope to inspire our new friends in Munich to come to Oregon.
