Becoming SOD “SOUS CHEF OF THE DAY

“Sous Chef” means under chef. This experience for the day is aimed at home cooks who want to take their culinary development up a notch! It is also the perfect way to help decide to transfer your love of cooking to a cooking profession. Or simply to hone your knife skills! Chef Bob can help you sort out what it is you want to achieve as our SOD. Simply pick a date/menu on our schedule that interests you, and call chef Bob at 503-436-8555 to discuss your interest and experience.

A typical day includes making bread and dessert; prepping all the vegetables and pre-prep tasks that are then finished during the show. You start at 10:00 am, work until lunch with our crew about 1:00, and you end the day helping to convert the prep area into the dining room. You have a short break before returning to watch each course come together. In fact you will have a seat at our table for you and a guest should you choose to.

 TUITION for this experience is $150 for the one-on-one cooking instruction by the chef and crew, your lunch, and a discount for joining the dinner show to see how it all comes together.  To return for the dinner show you pay only $200 for you and your guest.

We take only one SOD each day, so you receive all the attention! It also means we give you a list of tasks that contributes to the preparation needed to get ready for the dining requirements of the day.

Becoming our SOD or Sous Chef of the Day, starts with a few common remarks: 1- “I love to cook and wonder if working in the hospitality industry is for me;” –2. “I would just like to learn some more cooking skills to use at home;”–3. “Sure wish I had better knife skills.” If any of these sound familiar, give us a call! 503-436-8555.
